Common A6 Issues
The A6's more complex engineering means that certain components require attention as the vehicles age. Air suspension is fitted to many A6 models, particularly Allroad variants, and both the compressor and individual struts are frequently requested. The multitronic CVT gearbox found in C5 and C6 models can develop juddering under acceleration, often requiring valve body or complete gearbox replacement.
The 3.0 TDI engine is generally very reliable but can develop injector and turbocharger issues at higher mileages. The 2.7T biturbo from the C5 era often needs turbo replacement, coolant pipe updates, and timing belt service.
