About The Audi A6

Audi A6 – a premium class car produced since 1994 by the Audi brand . The fifth generation of the vehicle has been produced since 2018.

The Audi A6 I was presented for the first time in 1996.

The first generation A6 marked with the factory code C4 was not created as a new model constructed from scratch – in fact it was a modernized version of the Audi 100 C4 model . The vehicle was presented in June 1994.

The most noticeable change in relation to the Audi 100 C4, in addition to numerous modifications, is the introduction of the most powerful diesel engine in the Audi offer at the time – 2.5 TDI. This five-cylinder unit provided 103 kW (140 hp) of power.

2nd Generation

he Audi A6 II was presented for the first time in 1997.

The second generation A6 marked with the symbol C5 was presented in Geneva in 1997. This is the first generation of A6 built as this model from scratch.

In the same year, the first copies of this model rolled off the production lines. In 1998, the Avant version appeared on the market. In 1999, the S6 sports version and the Avant version with an eight-cylinder engine were introduced. In 2000, the concern presented the Allroad quattro version based on the Avant model.

The Italian car remodeling project was prepared by the well-known design office ” Pininfarina ” and included modern design in the style of Fastback . The drag coefficient was 0.28. In the second half of 2001 the vehicle underwent a delicate facelift.

A6 Allroad

The car debuted in 1999. The pneumatic adjustable suspension made it possible to adjust the height of the car to the terrain, larger wheels, tires and unpainted bumpers from the ordinary A6 Allroad. There were three drive units to choose from: V6 2.5 l TDI, V6 2.7 l bi-turbo and V8 4.2 l. Power was transferred to both axles through a 5-speed Tiptronic transmission with DSP ( Dynamic Shift Program ), or a 6-speed manual transmission; for an extra charge, they can be equipped with a manual gearbox with practical “Low Range” type reduction.

The wading depth of the car is 40 cm, and the Approach / Entry Angle is 27 ° and 25 °, respectively.

3rd Generation

The Audi A6 III was presented for the first time in autumn 2004.

The third generation A6 with the symbol C6 was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2004. It was designed by Walter de Silva. In 2005, the new Audi A6 won the World Car of the Year award.

The vehicle is an evolution of the previous generation. It was equipped with in the MMI system . In 2005, the station wagon (Avant) was launched, and the Allroad version a year later. In 2006, the Audi S6 with a ten-cylinder engine in the V system was presented . In 2008, the car was subjected to facelift . Changed among others grill, front and rear headlights made in LED technology , refined suspension, electronics and changed the style a bit. New 2.8 FSI (190, 210, 220 HP) and 3.0 TFSI petrol engines were also introduced . In diesel, on the other hand, 2.0 TDIe (136 HP) and 2.0 TDI (170 HP).

Since 2005, the A6L6 extended version, called A6L, has been produced in China, exclusively for the Chinese market.

A6 Allroad

The second generation of A6 Allroad was presented in 2006. Four drive units are available: V6 2.7 l TDI, V6 3.0 l TDI, V6 3.2 l FSI and V8 4.2 l FSI. Power is transferred to both axles via the 6-speed Tiptronic semi-automatic gearbox or the 6-speed manual gearbox.

4th Generation

The Audi A6 IV was presented for the first time in autumn 2011.

The fourth generation A6 marked with the C7 symbol was first presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2011.

Limousine and Avant versions were released in the same year. In 2012, the manufacturer introduced the A6 allroad quattro version based on the Avant model. Compared to the Avant A6, the allroad quattro has wider fenders, a 6 cm larger ground clearance, as well as a steel chassis cover at the front and rear.

Also in 2012, the Audi A6 hybrid appeared on the market. His power comes from two sources. The 2.0 TFSI diesel engine with 155 kW (211 hp) works with a 40 kW (54 hp) electric unit. In 2013, the most powerful version of the model was presented – RS 6 Avant. The car is powered by a V8 biturbo engine with direct injection with a capacity of 3 993 cm3. Due to such large capacity, the unit generates 412 kW (560 hp), and a constant torque of 700 Nm is available in the range from 1750 to 5500 rpm [48] .

In October 2014, the facelift version was presented at the Paris Motor Show. Significant modifications of technical solutions have been made. Changed among others radiator grille, side skirts, air intakes, exhaust tips, front bumpers and headlights, which can be optionally equipped with LED headlights and even LED Matrix. First of all, propulsion units that meet Euro 6 standards have been improved [49]. The most efficient gasoline and diesel engines installed in the A6 after face lifting are referred to as “ultra”. The 1.8 TFSI ultra unit combined with the all-new S tronic automatic transmission consumes an average of 5.7 liters of fuel per 100 km. The 2.0 TDI ultra engine with 110 kW (150 HP), on the other hand, has extremely low fuel consumption of 4.4-4.6 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Audi engineers at the A6 C7 also significantly reduced the vehicle’s weight (about 50 kg less than the previous model). For example, the 1.8 TFS model weighs only 1535 kg. This translated into better handling and greater efficiency of power units.

A6 Allroad

The third generation of the A6 Allroad was presented in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show. V6 3.0 units were used for the drive: petrol TFSI and high-pressure TDI.

5th Generation

The Audi A6 V was presented for the first time in March 2018.

The fifth generation A6 received the factory code C8. The new incarnation of one of the most popular cars of the German brand debuted in March 2018 as the third model representing the brand’s new aesthetics after the new Audi A8 and Audi A7. Like its predecessor, the car took over the dashboard of the A7, thereby introducing a new digital cockpit consisting of 3 large displays – replacing traditional clocks, a button panel for radio control and air conditioning panel. The fifth generation A6 compared to its predecessors does not stand out by other proportions, although the car has clearly grown – with an emphasis on a longer wheelbase.

In May 2018, the second body option was presented – the station wagon version, i.e. Avant.
